A Butterfly

Yesterday was a happy mail day for me.  My order from Victoria Sampler arrived with my chart and threadpack for the Cyberclass I will be taking in May.  I picked Butterfly Lace and I do think this will be a challenge!
The gauze ribbon you see in the upper right and that little bit of gold wire is used to actually make the butterfly.  The stitching will be hard enough, but that little butterfly will be a huge challenge for me I think.

I have been working on the Jeanette Douglas Eastern Seaboard Sampler over the last couple of days and I am very pleased to say that I finished the over one stitching quite successfully.  It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it might be and I have to say thanks to those of you that enouraged me to give it a try.

The little row of boats is Row #22 which means there are 11.5 rows to go.  There are 33 rows in all.   I'm looking forward to the row after the little backstitched boats.  It uses a stitch I have never used before, the Norwich stitch.  The final look I think will be similar to a woven box.  I'm not sure how else to describe it.

I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat and I'm sure hoping I don't end up with the full-blown flu/cold that is going around.  I'm back to work tomorrow and sitting there sick is the last thing I want to do.

Many of you already signed up for my give-away, but if you missed it, please leave a comment on that post and you can get there by clicking here

That's a pretty design! Good luck with the cyberclass. Nice progress on your JDD and belated congratulations on finishing the Heirloom Christmas Sampler, it's stunning!

Ooh! Pretties! Your Butterfly Lace kit looks beautiful! It's wonderful to see all the colours of the ribbon; they're so much more vibrant than the kit picture on the VS site suggested :) I can't wait until you get to making the little butterfly; I'm very curious to see how it turns out! I hope that you love this class as much as you loved Heirloom Christmas :)

Your Eastern Seaboard Sampler is looking wonderful as well; good for you for trying the over one stitching! I'm glad that you found it less finacky than you anticipated (since things so often go the other way, and they end up being harder *rolls eyes*). Those little blackwork fishing boats are super-cute :)

Best wishes for avoiding the flu!
